Juanita Castro Buitrón of Eldorado moved back into the arms of her Creator on September 10, 2025 after a three-month illness. She was surrounded by family and friends as she embarked on her journey home. Juanita’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Concho Hearts Hospice. A priceless appreciation to Angels Home Health who cared for her at her home these last two years (Shelby and Sara).
Juanita (Grandma Nita/Aunt Nita) was a lady that spoke her mind, but loved deeply. She didn’t sugarcoat life - but sweetened it with her presence. Juanita was born on January 26, 1936 in Del Rio Texas. The oldest of four girls. Her parentsGavino Castro and Eulalia Frías were from farming and ranching families in the state of Coahuila, Mexico.
They moved to the Carolina Ranch near Ft. McKavett, Texas soon after Juanita’s birth to serve as domestic help for the ranch owner.
Juanita’s desire to serve as a caregiver and to provide domestic help services within private residences came from having witnessed her parents’ passion to serve others. She quit school at the age of 15 and worked for Katherine and Miltia Hill where she cared for their elderly mother for the next seven years.
She married Alberto Favila Buitron on November 29, 1958 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Eldorado, Texas. They had their first son Jose Alberto Buitron ‘Albert’ 1960, Ray David Buitron Sr.’David’ 1961, and Ramiro C. Buitron ‘Ram’ 1962.
She resumed her passion in life of serving in domestic help roles around 1970 when her boys were all in school. She became the household worker for the Mort and Madolyn Mertz family until about 1980. She shared her trusted servant’s heart by helping Paul and Lucy Page, Bob and Pat Sykes, and Wilson and Helen Marie Page in caring for their homes and loved ones. Her sweet and loving nature landed other caregiving roles such as childcare and elderly care within the Eldorado community.
She enjoyed going to different churches in town and always wondered why there are so many different churches if there is only One Loving Creator. Her simple childlike love of all of God’s kids regardless of religion didn’t complicate her devoted life to her Roman Catholic upbringing and her love for Jesus. She was very aware of her human nature and was resigned to living each day better than her last. Always imploring Gods help before doing anything.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alberto, her parents, nephew Alvaro Rojas, Jr II, and her loving sister Teresa Martinez. Survivors include her children, Albert Buitron, David Buitron, and Ram Buitron. Two daughters-in-law that she grew to love deeply, Anna Aguilar Buitron, and Martha Martinez Buitron.
With very special appreciation and affection for Judith Hernandez Samaniego and her husband Manuel’s unconditional love. You two were always her go to when family was not present.
Grandchildren include Ray David Buitron, Jr., Jose Luis Buitron, Cassandra Buitron, Rogelio Rodriguez, Jr., Ramiro Buitron, Jr., Erica Ann Romo, Mathias Buitron and nineteen great-grandchildren. Two sisters Mary Castro Spears, Carolina Castro Mendez and husband Ricardo.Last but not least her favorite niece Rosemary Rojas Factor and nephews Eugenio Castro Rojas, Raymond Spears Jr., and Randy Lee Spears.
Her spiritual life was enhanced by Peter and Maria Thornton, pastors at Templo Getsemani Assembly of God, Pastor Jim and Vicky Troutman from Community Baptist Church, Marleney and Juan Chavez, Florentino and Fidela Sanchez, Maria (Bay) Aguilar, Rahegyn Franke and daughter Sadie, Karen Robertson, Charlie Bradley, Michael Mertz, Kerry and Debbie Joy, Becky Lux, Anita Jones, Doug Ward, Rico Forlano, Maria Grimaldo, Sylvia Belman, Margaret Gutierrez, Rosa Belman, Randy Mitchel, Ricky and Monica Soto, Rosa Rodrigues Martinez, Pastora Rios and husband, and countless other beautiful friends whose hearts and souls connected with hers.

Following interment of ashes, a meal to honor Juanita’s memory will be served at Agape Assembly of God, 502 E Warner Avenue, Eldorado, TX 76936.
