Deborah Kay Pearson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 72. Born on October 20, 1952, in Houston, Texas, Deborah lived a life filled with passion, love, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Deborah dedicated over 25 years of her life to her career as a Pet Stylist at Key City Veterinary in Abilene, nurturing and caring for countless dogs and cats, fulfilling her lifelong passion for animals. Following her retirement in 2014, Deborah continued to embody the essence of service and compassion, often giving back to others through her volunteer work as a Meals-On-Wheels driver, bringing nourishment and kindness to those in need within the Abilene community.

A graduate of Spring Branch High School, Deborah’s joyful presence was felt by all, lighting up any room she entered with her infectious smile and optimistic energy. Her faith in God provided her with hope and strength, enabling her to greet each day with a smile, no matter the challenges she faced. Those who knew her will fondly remember her quirky personality and openness in conversations, which often left her friends and family in fits of laughter.

Deborah cherished the memories made during the holidays, immersing herself in decorating, baking, and crafting handmade gifts and treats for her fellow residents at Abilene Senior Village. Her adventurous spirit led her to enjoy traveling, whether it was exploring the hill country, camping by a crackling campfire, or basking in the sun on the beach. In quieter moments, she enjoyed binge-watching her favorite sappy Hallmark movies while savoring endless bowls of her delicious air-popped popcorn.

A devoted mother to Twins Kandace Leslie Miller and Jarrett Ross Miller, and youngest son Casey Bryant Vawter, Deborah was known for her nurturing nature, which extended to her daughter-in-law Donalle Miller, grandchildren Scout Miller, Memphis Vawter, Aarolyn Vawter, Raven Rockefellow, and her great-grandson Damian Vawter. Her love and dedication to her children were unwavering; she never gave up on them and inspired them with her strength and resilience through life's many battles.

Deborah shared a profound bond with her significant other, Rick Bailey, and was not only a loving partner but also a source of support and encouragement. Her dream of establishing her own pet rescue ranch, where she envisioned working alongside her children, was a testament to her dedication to helping those in need, both humans and animals alike.

In every interaction, Deborah imparted wisdom and encouragement, often reminding those around her to “Give your worries to God. He will handle it.” Her legacy of love, courage, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to call her a friend. As we remember Deborah Kay Pearson, we celebrate a remarkable life well-lived—a warrior for both life and love, whose spirit will continue to inspire us all.
